I saw a book on the shelf at the library today. It’s called Class 11 and it’s about the class of CIA agents that were training immediately following the attack on the Twin Towers. They’re training was significantly different because the stakes had changed.
Now I watch as my country–yet again–chews itself to death over stupid things like water-boarding. There are probably some from Class 11 that are now being roasted by the extreme left; people who’ve never even gotten dirt under their nails.
Yes–it’s fucking stupid and anyone of the drama queens on MSNBC or on blogs who want to make a huge issue of it need to be jack-slapped.
Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus. Yet–here we are.
This is about national security. Not the Constitution, not civil rights–not George Bush. If we can nuke cities, if we can kill 20,000 Japanese on Iwo Jima in one month, without destroying the national fiber of our country, we can pour water on some Jihadists.
And if we don’t want to pour water on people, if we’re just too squeamish for that, despite all the other things that go on in war that are immeasurably worse–fine. Pouring water on people is not currently used by interrogators. But don’t expect many volunteers for the CIA or our military under this current administration. People who are too sqeamish for water surely don’t have the spine to back my right to shoot an enemy in the face and be glad about it.
Now let’s shut the hell up about it and move on.
