I was listening to a bunch of his speeches a friend gave me on DVD. What6’s crazy is this stuff was very old – much of it was back when he was campaigning for Goldwaer. The arguments being made, the demonization of drs and insurers – it’s incredible b/c it sounds just like today. Except the #’s – they were just in the low hundred millions back then.

It’s really kinda crazy – come up with Medicare/Medicaid to ‘cover’ powerful constitutencies. Then, run it irresponsibly and politically. When it gets out of hand point out that it’s eating up too much of the economy (whichi it wouldn’t if it was reformed or kept contstrained to the Constitution). This is a perfect examplet of Leftists creating the problem, working really damn hard to create the problem and let it get out of hand – then when it’s blowing up – insist only more govt can fix it.

Let them fix the VA, Bureua of Indian affaairs or medicare/medicaid – FIRST, then maybe someone will listen to them- until then, I’m glad to see this withering n the phone

Do you now realize that the infrastructure he speaks of already exists, and the sole item needed for full institution of national healthcare is to drop the Medicare age requirement?

Once that’s gone you have an instant system of national health care.

This entire audio clip was dead-on. Thanks President Reagan. The gradual encroachment will not stop.

The saddest thing, and I don’t blame any of you for not crying, is this:

I work and buy my own coverage, rarely get sick, and pay for full private coverage.

So, what do I get out of all this?

91% of American’s polled say they are happy with their coverage. Of course, the argument is that not all people are covered. But almost all people are eligible to be covered. Most who don’t have coverage are eligible for some sort of assistance but don’t take advantage because perhaps they don’t know or don’t really care.

I’m the perfect example that proves that the system isn’t really broken. I’ve had 5 knee operations–ALL WITHOUT MEDICAL INSURANCE.

The first two were covered by Medicaid since I was under 18 for the first, and in college for the second. The second was a significant procedure. requiring the reconstruction of a ligament.

The next few I paid for myself over a period of years. Guess what? The hospital takes 5 bucks a month if that’s all you have–much cheaper than insurance….

The Left’s arguments and playbook are always the same. Listen to the talk of an imminent ice age in the 70’s. They used the same exact language as they use in global warming. Just insert cold for hot and that is what it was. The Left has to get people scared and use a crisis to get what they want.

Funny you mention that Ice Age. I remember that ballyhoo and I’m still waiting…

…the ice age will be back!!!!!! Well……at least as a new crisis for the left. Stay tuned as the temps have leveled and may actually be dropping. Notice no big pushes on this front as they are figuring out how to spin the current temps. Global Warming, Man Made Global Warming, Climate Change and ………

Oh, Reagan was transcendent. I believe he could have been a founding father. He was a ‘man out of time’. By out of time I do not mean lacking anymore time but from another time.

I agree. The Star Wars defense thing was the greatest ruse in military history, and a world changing event.

Whether he did it intentionally or by accident doesn’t even matter. It was the purest of genius. We will probably be dead before history shouts it out loud, but eventually it will be.

    The largest war in human history;

    Averted with no injuries.
