Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sham.

This is the Liberal self-licking ice cream cone at its best.

Um. Hmm. I voted for Obama, so I should say something clever to allay everyone’s shock. I’ll try not to let my conservative side show:

So, if George Bush had done the exact same stuff over the last few months he would have gotten one, too?!

And the first three paragraphs of Yahoo news talk about how so many feel it may have been undeserved.

    Ya think?

Key reason cited: None of his initiatives have shown any fruit yet!

Hello? Is anyone listening? I hope he’s the next JFK, but some days it seems like the second coming of Jimmy Carter.

He was nominated 11 days into his presidency. That was just 3 days after he couldn’t tell the difference between a window and a door. He has good company with Carter and Gore though.

For years, Carter was running around sticking his thumb in the eye of both President’s Clinton and Bush. Many observers said it was b/c he was trying for a Nobel and he certainly got it. They gave it to Gore for what amounts to essentially the reading of a Powerpoint Presentation and it leaked out that it was mainly done as a snub to president Bush. Europe gets accused of Anti-Americanism which in many ways is a bad rap. When it comes to the elites, there’s nothing but Anti-Americanism – but among rank and file Europeans – not so much. But it’s not rank and filers that do the nomination here – it’s Europe’s most culturally elite. A guy from a poor family from the countryside of (fill in whatever country) would never stand a chance of getting on the nominating committee. The some frothing at the mouth socialist grandson of a duke or count – money in the bank.

This is the same group of folks that gave Arafat a prize for God’s sake. Arafat is no less vile than Hitler or Osama, but the media vehemently paints a very politically correct, voice of the oppressed freedom fighting lover of the little guy, picture of him. but that veneer is sooo thin a 5 year old can see through it – the fact the Nobel Prize committee didn’t can only be attributed to their not wanting to see who he really was.

So to get the prize, you have to dislike America and work against her interests, you have to make the world a worse place while claiming you’re trying to make it better, you have to do it through politically correct causes and apparently now, you have to specifically not have done anything – just talked a good game (Gore, Obama).

This says nothing about Obama but a lot about the committee. I hear a lot of people knocking him for it – but unless he did something behind the scenes we don’t know about – this was a surprise to him so he can’t be at all held accountable for it. With all that said it’s still a complete joke.

I just remembered after hitting submit – Rigoberta Menchu won the prize too. You and I are the same age so I, Rigoberta Menchu was probably a huge hit at your college as it was mine. What an awful book. If you’re going to make something that awful, at least make it true – I mean there’s plenty of misery in the world to write about. As you are no doubt aware, a reported basically called BS on her story and went down to investigate – and sure enough – it was all BS. Arafat, Carter, Menchu, Gore… If I was Obama, I’m not sure I’d want to be associated with that crowd.
