Is supporting Israel bad for America?

Posted on Updated on

I recently had a conversation with a friend about America’s support for Israel.  He believes, as do many others, that the relationship between Israel and America is bad for America, because America can be drawn into wars that are not in its self-interest.

While I do agree that it is bad policy to form alliances which require America to go to war should an ally go to war, we in fact, have many such alliances already, yet no one seems to have a problem with France being a member of NATO, which means that if France finds itself in a existential crisis, all nations in NATO must come to her aid.  So many of the arguments against support for Israel seem to be rooted in three factors: 1) Israel, unlike France, is almost always on the verge of war, thus the consequences of our alliance is more evident. 2) Many people hate Jews. 3) The Arabs have lost several wars with Israel and have devolved, while Israel has prospered against the odds. Thus some consider the Arabs to be an underdog, picked on my a more powerful nation.

Religious beliefs aside (being a Christian, I think it’s a bad bet to take up the opposite side of the people of God), why should we not support Israel? Yes, it is true that an alliance with Israel could drag us into a war in the Middle East, but that is not a necessary condition for the alliance. For instance, Israel went to war with Hezbollah in 2006 and America did not deploy troops there.  Israel is a model of success in the Middle East. It is the only true democracy by Western standards.  Liberals should admire Israel as much as they seem to adore the Palestinians; in Israel, it’s not illegal to be gay, Muslim, Christian or even an atheist. Women stand on equal ground with men, in Israel. Israel has produced more Nobel Prizes than all the Arab nations combined, several times over. Indeed, Israel seems to be a model that the whole world could learn from.

Some argue that militant Islamists hate America because of its alliance with Israel. But is this true? This may make good propaganda for suicide bombers, but upon closer inspection,  it doesn’t hold much water. After all, China, Russia, Germany, France and many more all have problems with Muslim terrorists.

And even if it is true, that terrorists are motivated to attack the US because of its support for Israel, so what? Is America, the most powerful military force in the world, the kind of nation that backs its friends only in the good times? Do we want to abandon the alliance because Israel has enemies? What kind of friend is that? Did we abandon England in WWII because it was fighting Germany? How would are allies now view the United States if we stopped support when war seemed imminent? A friend like that will soon find himself without any friends at all. It reminds me of Afghan villagers, forced to stop cooperating with American forces because the Taliban put a gun to their heads. Not much of an image for a superpower to present.

The type of moral equivocation needed to sympathize with the Arab nations compared to Israel borders on the insane. So intent are some to “see the other side’s point”, that they cannot any longer tell good from evil. They will rant about the destruction of democracy on America, yet support totalitarian regimes in countries that hate America and everything it stands for. In those countries, unlike in Israel, the people live rather miserable lives. And guess what? It’s not Israel’s fault.

Everything about this post is brilliant. However I had to chuckle to myself just trying to imagine the hyperventilation it would cause were it to be picked up by a mainstream news source. The hissy fit it would cause and the resulting contortions the Israel haters would perform intellectually would be priceless, especially b/c you make the point so perfectly w/ France. We’re the same age I believe and back when I was in college, it was politically correct to support Israel (and correct correct). Somewhere between graduation and when I went back to grad school this big flip happened where if you were a Gentile that supported Israel, you must be some sort of Jerry Falwell loving nutjob – and it seems to have devolved since then. You’ve brought up the scapegoating of the Jews in a few other posts and that’s no doubt what’s happening – I just never really figured out what caused the flip and why it happened so profoundly (also not sure why so many prominent Jews who have been all over Obama for his treatment of Israel are still voting for him anyway)

By way of full disclosure my wife is Jewish and I have many Jewish friends but I don’t think that has much bearing on my position relative to Israel.

I think your observations relative to Israel and foreign policy are quite accurate especially your reference to France and NATO. However, Turkey is also a member of NATO and today that seems more relevant given that they are already exchanging gunfire with the Syrian army. If that escalates it could easily create a crisis within NATO because NATO is really just a euphenism for America. With the exception of the Brits the rest of NATO is mostly a paper tiger made up of small military forces governed by weak willed governments. These have not shown much military ardor unless directly threatened and in those cases they expect America to defend them. Israel has a small but very capable military that is well armed. So far they have prevailed against Hamas and Hezbollah but the Arabs in the form of Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood are becoming quite battle hardened. Given heavy equipment and armament they could prove a formidable foe assuming proper leadership. Without doubt there is growing anti-semitism in the US and it is resurgent in Europe. The liberal establishment, especially in the universities, seems to have taken up the Muslim cause against Israel (and in my opinion the US as well). Israel has been a proven ally and what many people don’t seem to realize is that has been a two way street. Israel has contributed with new military concepts and innventions. More importantly had Hitler not attacked the Jews, the Jewish scientists who gave us the atomic bomb could have given that to Hitler. In that case the outcome of WW II would have been a lot different. Frankly, as a Christian, I think, like you, I would prefer to be on the side of God’s chosen people.

Israel And Jews Spell Horror & Death For Christianity And USA

Israel and Jews are the worst possible enemies for the Christian people of USA, and it’s compounded by sad fact so many think Israel/Jews are “friends.” “The people of God”?–on the contrary, don’t forget Jews conspired to murder Christ, and Jews make it a pt. in their Talmud to gloat over that fact, saying Christ was blasphemer and heretic. Muslims revere Christ as great prophet, the 3rd greatest of Islam, I understand.

And note there’s OVERWHELMING evidence Jews and Israel were heavily involved and did 9/11 (see Bollyn.com), were integral part of the assassination of JFK (see http://americanfreepress.net/?p=14249), and viciously attacked the USS Liberty (see http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/Israelattackonlibertyfull.php), among many other crimes, surely all the large ones.

And don’t forget or fail to understand the large, overall, and controlling criminal conspiracy that literally has the whole world in thrall, the “central banking” scam of legalized COUNTERFEITING, as US Federal Reserve (the “Fed”)–see RealityZone.com, Mises.org, and LewRockwell.com for expo on Fed fraud.

It’s a two pronged assault, fm both the false “left” and “right,” towards world gov. and dictatorship under the United Nations (UN), NATO being integral part, along w. Israel, never doubt. See http://thenewamerican.com/search?q=un+world+government for definitive expo on UN, esp. http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/item/16293-building-world-order.

Observe people’s minds have been carefully programmed to overlook that huge criminal conspiracy that controls everything else, the Fed, and is it any wonder?–consider the mass corp. “news”-media, practically TOTALLY owned and controlled by Jews, not to mention Hollywood “entertainment.” All establishment Christian churches are presently under control of Jews, including esp. the “Judeo-Christian” hereticalists who support Israel and say Christ was “Jew.”

Supporting Israel is not only “bad,” it is absolutely catastrophic and fatal. Unfortunately, people will only begin to confirm this horrific catastrophe AFTER the impact of imminent economic and currency collapse, starvation, and war.

Today’s jews are probably not “God’s people” unless you consider Esau/Edomites whom God hated and cursed and swore to annihilate in the end for their crass materialism to be “God’s people”.

The Jewish Encyclopedia of 1925 states flatly that that “Edom is in Jewry” (volume 5, p 4)

These people, the Edomites (descendants of Esau) were converted as a group to become ‘Jews’ by John Hyrcanus in about 120BC. According to Flavius Josephus, the Jewish historian who lived just after the time of Christ, ‘They (Edom) were hereafter no other than Jews’ (Josephus Antiquities of the Jews, XIII ix 1; XV vii 9).

Here’s the passage: “Hyrcanus…subdued all the Idumeans; and permitted them to stay in that country, if they would circumcise their genitals, and make use of the laws of the Jews; and they were so desirous of living in the country of their forefathers, that they submitted to the use of circumcision, and of the rest of the Jewish ways of living; at which time therefore this befell them, that they were hereafter no other than Jews [but were racially Edomites, the enemies of the House of Judah].”

Cecil Roth in his Concise Jewish Encyclopedia (1980) says ‘John Hyrcanus forcibly converted [Edom] to Judaism. From then on they were part of the Jewish people..’ (p 154).

The Edomite convert “jews” greatly outnumbered and were jealous of the real Judahites and Levites that controlled the throne, the temple and the Sanhedrin which they were all barred by their ancestry from participating in so they eventually rose up and overthrew the Hasmonean royal house and the Judahite and Levite controlled temple and Sahedrin and set themselves up in their place in one of the greatest cases of itreachery and dentity theft in history.

That is why Jesus saw the the jewish leaders of him day as counterfeits and stated to them “if ye were of Abraham ye would do the works of Abraham, but ye are of your father the Devil and his works do ye do as he was a liar and a murderer from the beginning…”

If Jesus called out the phony Edomite “jews” of his day continually as phonies, liars, murderers, and thieves, why do you embrace their descendants as real Judahites when the facts of history clearly show they are not?

The Book of Revelations clearly rejects the Edomite fake “jews” “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie…”

There is not a single self-described jew alive today that can trace their pedigree in the male line to the House of Judah. Not one.

By their works shall ye know them…

    “Jews”: Followers Of Pharisees, Talmud

Good research, William, but still, u MISS THE PT. “Jews” are followers of the Pharisees and nowadays, the Talmud, by definition–ck any source, Christian or Jew (RevisionistReview.blogspot.com and Come-and-hear.com).

Note there was and still is great problem of equivocation (confusion for meaning of words) in translating for the Bible, distinguishing Judeans, denizens of Judea, descendents of Israelite, Judah, and of those who migrated back to Judea fm Babylon in time of Cyrus the Great.

Pharisees were leaders of the middle-class in Judea at time of Christ, perhaps 5% of the pop. there at the time.

Plus, u’re leaving out the Khazars who CONVERTED to Judaism (Pharisaism and Talmudism) in the 7th or 8th cent., now called the “Ashkenazism,” who make up at least 75% of present-day “Israelis” and Jews.

I agree w. u on judging by the fruits.
